Almost all of us are waiting for official words from Microsoft about its next Windows version "Windows 8". Microsoft has not provided any information about Windows 8 but it seems that Microsoft's Dutch site has leaked some interesting information about the release of Windows 8:

Microsoft’s Next OS “Windows 8″ (Major Release) Coming in 2012

Since Windows 7 has been released to public, Microsoft has started working on the next Windows version which is codenamed as "Windows 8" at the moment. "Stephen Chapman" @ Microsoft Kitchen posted a Windows roadmap which clearly shows that Windows 8 is scheduled to release in 2012. Microsoft has also mentioned in past that it'll try to keep a fixed 3 years gap between future Windows releases and it seems that they are really working hard to maintain this gap.

As you can see in the above roadmap, Windows 8 is mentioned as "Major Release" and is scheduled for 2012. The most interesting thing to notice in this rodamap is that Windows 7 is mentioned as "Release Update".

We all know that Microsoft is silently working on next Windows version "Windows 8" aka Windows vNext. But some news are coming that a new build 6.2.7926.0.winmain_win8m2.110211-1159 has been leaked which indicates that it was compiled on February 11th, 2011.
The leaked build is available for download on various torrent websites.

As usual we don't recommend downloading leaked build as it might contain virus and spyware.

Windows 8 Milestone 2 Build Screenshot Leaked, Features New “Up” Button in Explorer and Improvement in Windows Update

Here is an interesting news for people who are eagerly waiting for leaked information and screenshots of the upcoming Windows version 8. Winrumors website reports that Zukona has leaked a new screenshot of Windows 8 Milestone 2. The build number is 6.2.7930.0.winmain_win8m2.110217-1825.
The leaked screenshot features 2 interesting changes in UI:

• A new "Restart if required" option has been added below "Install updates" button.
• Surprisingly, the good old "Up" button has been put back in Windows Explorer titlebar. Its not confirmed but by the look and position, it looks like the "Up" button.

Since Windows 8 is under initial stage of development, we should not expect major UI changes atm.

New Feature “History Vault” Revealed in Windows 8

A recently leaked screenshot confirms a new feature "History Vault" found in Windows 8 build. A Chinese site CNBeta has shared a few screenshots.
History vault is a similar to Time Machine which is a feature present in Apple's Mac OS. History Vault allows you to backup your important files to another drive.
Its also said that Windows 8 will support videos as User account picture:

Windows 8 Installation Screenshots Leaked

It seems that Microsoft is going to use Metro UI everywhere in Windows 8. First the secret Aero Lite theme was revealed. Now Winreview website has shared some screenshots showing Windows 8 installation which looks neat and hints of Metro UI being used.

Lets tell you the setup was started from a Windows 7 machine and the installation looks different from Windows Vista and 7.

New Windows 8 Login Screen (Welcome Screen) Revealed

We have posted lots of leaked screenshots of Windows 8 and now its turn of Windows 8 login screen. Windows 8 comes with a new login screen which has a full screen background image similar to Windows Vista and 7 but it shows a few details which are not displayed in Vista and 7.

Windows 8 login screen shows system date and time and also the day of week which is a nice addition. It also shows power button and ease of access button. Power button is only shown on portable machines. Also the background is customizable.

Secret Ribbon UI Revealed in Windows 8 Explorer

We have seen Ribbon UI in Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010. Microsoft also used the same ribbon UI in Windows 7 Wordpad and Paint. Now it seems Microsoft is going to use the same Ribbon UI in Windows 8 shell i.e. Windows Explorer.
Our friends "Rafael and Paul" have shared a few screenshots of Windows 8 Explorer which reveal the secret Ribbon UI.

You can hide the ribbons if you want. It seems Microsoft might replace Menubar and toolbar with this Ribbon UI in future builds.
